• Will my premiums increase? NO - They will remain the same throughout your chosen term, even if you leave the Services.
  • Who will benefit from this SLI policy? Your loved ones - Wife, Partner, Children, Parents - it's your choice.
  • Do you cover me for war risks whilst I'm on deployment - and what happens if I leave the Services? YES - War and terrorism cover applies both to Regulars and Reserves on deployment. However, this particular aspect of your cover will cease to remain in force once you leave the Services.
  • Should I consider putting my policy in Trust?

Completing a trust form and thus putting your policy in trust may suit your personal circumstances. Your policy then effectively becomes "owned" by your trustees (you can be a trustee) and on your death, the policy proceeds can be distributed by your trustees according to your wishes as expressed in the trust. This could speed up the process of getting the policy benefits to your loved ones.

We can supply you with a trust form, but we cannot advise whether setting up a trust is suitable for you. There are important legal aspects involved (for example you need to make sure that your trust form does not clash with the terms of any will you may have made) and you must take independent legal advice from a properly qualified person.

If you would like a copy of a trust form please call 0330 134 8452.

  • I skydive. Can you cover me? YES - We do not load premiums or apply any special conditions for hazardous activities or sports - unlike many other life policies.
  • I was diagnosed with a heart condition a few years ago. Can you really guarantee to offer me cover? YES – but this could count as a pre-existing condition and if it directly or indirectly led to your death or a terminal illness within the first 24 months of your policy, we would not pay up. After that, we would pay up in full.
  • Can I pay premiums by JPA Payroll Deduction? YES - if you are a Regular in HM Forces. Alternatively you can pay by Direct Debit - which is also the option for Reserves.
  • I'm Special Forces. Can you cover me? YES - you are guaranteed acceptance regardless of trade.
  • Other than pre-existing medical conditions, are there any other exclusions? YES - suicide during the first 12 months of your policy and terminal illness if it is diagnosed during the last 12 months of your policy.
  • I'm a Reservist and in my own time I take on a Service-type job overseas in a conflict zone which exposes me to danger – will I be covered? NO – unless in doing the job in question you are acting under the official orders and approval of HM Forces.
